FAQ

What is DECA?

DECA is a club that focuses on and teaches marketing and business techniques.

What does DECA stand for?

DECA used to stand for Distributing Education Club of America, but now it stands for an International Association of Marketing Students.

What do you do in DECA?

In DECA, we learn the ins and outs of business. We learn business and interviewing skills, such as how to impress a possible employer or a college scout, with competitions on the regional, state and national levels. Plus, we have lots of fun!

What do you do at competitions?

At competitions, you sign up for and engage in role plays. Also, tests are given to test your marketing and business smarts, not to mention common sense, customer satisfaction, and more.

What are role plays?

Depending on what area you are signed up in (hospitality, sports advertisement, restaurant, etc) you will receive a role play in which you are given a marketing problem or situation and they want your ideas on how to fix the problem or an inspiring idea to help a business expand. You will then pitch your ideas to a judge and be scored on how well you know marketing lingo, business techniques, and how well you sell your ideas, but more importantly, yourself.

How do I join DECA?

To join DECA, get in touch with Ms. Andersen or any DECA members for a New Member fill out sheet and return it to Ms. Andersen with the required membership fee of $15.
